NAMDIA

THE NAMDIA FOUNDATION

The NAMDIA Foundation was established in October 2019 as an expression of Namib Desert Diamonds’ belief that the true value of diamonds lies not only in their brilliance, but in the lives they touch and transform.

As a registered non-profit organisation and the corporate social responsibility vehicle of NAMDIA, the Foundation exists to ensure that the value created through Namibia’s diamonds is transformed into meaningful social and economic impact for communities across the country.

Guided by a Board of Trustees, the Foundation is committed to initiatives that are purposeful, impactful and sustainable. Initiatives that respond to real needs and create lasting change.

Our work is anchored in three pillars that we believe are fundamental to a thriving nation: Education, Health and Sport.

Education: Creating the Conditions to Learn

We believe that every child deserves a fair chance to learn, grow and dream. Education remains the most powerful tool for breaking cycles of inequality and unlocking opportunity.

Through the Education pillar, the NAMDIA Foundation focuses on addressing basic education needs, particularly in under-resourced communities. Our interventions are practical and impact-driven, and include:

    • Provision of study materials and learning resources
    • Support for safe, functional classrooms
    • Improving access to essential infrastructure such as sanitation and clean water

By strengthening the learning environment, we help create spaces where learners can focus on learning, educators can teach with dignity and futures can begin to take shape.

Health: Restoring Dignity and Saving Lives

Good health is fundamental to human dignity, productivity and wellbeing. Yet for many vulnerable Namibians, access to essential healthcare remains a challenge.

Through the Health pillar, the NAMDIA Foundation supports initiatives that deliver tangible, life-changing health interventions, with a focus on:

    • Provision of essential medical equipment to healthcare facilities
    • Support for critical and life-saving medical needs
    • Improvement and refurbishment of healthcare infrastructure, including the renovation of clinics to enhance access to quality care

Our aim is simple but powerful: to improve quality of life, restore hope and strengthen healthcare services where they are needed most.

Sport: Building Character, Opportunity and National Pride

Sport has the power to transform lives. It instils discipline, builds confidence, teaches teamwork and offers young people a positive alternative to destructive influences.

Through the Sport pillar, the NAMDIA Foundation focuses on sports development, particularly for previously disadvantaged communities. Our support includes:

    • Development of grassroots and youth sports programmes
    • Support for national teams and athletes representing Namibia at international competitions
    • Creating opportunities for young people to engage in structured, positive and purpose-driven activities

By investing in sport, we invest in character, resilience and the next generation of Namibian role models.

What We Do

The NAMDIA Foundation supports initiatives that:

    • Align with our pillars of Education, Health and Sport
    • Address basic, essential and life-changing needs
    • Deliver clear, measurable and sustainable impact
    • Benefit vulnerable and previously disadvantaged communities

We prioritise projects that create long-term value rather than once-off interventions, and we work closely with partners to ensure accountability and responsible use of resources.

What We Don’t Do

To ensure focus and impact, the NAMDIA Foundation does not support:

    • Requests that fall outside our three strategic pillars
    • Individual cash donations or ongoing personal financial support
    • Political, religious or commercial initiatives
    • Events, conferences or activities without clear developmental outcomes

While we are unable to support every request we receive, each submission is considered carefully and with respect for the needs presented.
